CeMAP Training Courses

The fast track CeMAP training courses we offer can enable you to become a qualified mortgage advisor after just ten days of intensive study. To qualify, you need to pass each of the following modules:

  • CeMAP 1 – UK Financial Regulation
  • CeMAP 2 – Mortgages
  • CeMAP 3 – Assessment of Mortgage Advice Knowledge

Our CeMAP training courses available in Manchester, Leeds, Scotland, Birmingham, London and the North West will give you the skills you need for a successful career in mortgage advice. To become fully qualified, you need to pass three separate exams.

Our five day courses are held in hotels throughout the UK and consist of about 10 students maximum to enable the tutor to focus on their development and prepare them for their CeMAP 1, 2 and 3 exams.

There are several plus points to professional CeMAP training:

  • You can complete the course quickly and without any distractions
  • You can benefit from your tutor’s guidance and immediate support rather than teaching yourself from hard-to-follow IFS manuals
  • The course is delivered in easy to manage study blocks, each of which has its own test

5 day CeMAP training course for CeMAP 1

The course fee includes all training materials, such as books, mock exam papers and revision guides. Also included is coffee and lunch on the training days and email support.

Candidates are fast-tracked in five days, from 9am to 5am, Monday to Friday.

CeMAP 1 test papers content: UK Financial Regulation (shared with CeFA 1) split into two units:

  • Introduction to the Financial Services Environment and Products
  • Financial Services and Regulation

Please note that the fee for the Institute of Financial Services (ifs) School of Finance registration and exam for CeMAP 1 is £135 and not included in the training course fees.

The computer based exam lasts for two hours and consists of two units, each with 50 multiple choice questions. To pass, a score of 35 must be achieved in each unit. A score of 40 in each unit earns a merit, and 45 a distinction.

We recommend that fast track candidates take their examinations between 2 and 6 days after the course, as this has allowed us to achieve a 90% pass rate.

Exams are taken at the same Pearson Vue test centres where you would take a driving theory test. Find your nearest Pearson Vue test centre.

5 Day CeMAP 2 & 3 combined training course

As with CeMAP 1, the course fees include training materials, mock exam papers, training and revision guides, coffee, lunch and email support.

We recommend that candidates take the CeMAP papers 2 & 3 first. They are generally found to be easier for those wishing to become a mortgage advisor as they concentrate solely on mortgages, and the terminology and study techniques learned can be successfully applied to CeMAP 1.

CeMAP 2 & 3 are studied together because they are based on the same syllabus / learning material.

CeMAP 2 content: Mortgages (4 units)

  • Mortgage Law, policy, Practice and Markets
  • Mortgage applications
  • Mortgage payments methods
  • Mortgage arrears and post completion issues.

The computer based exam lasts for two hours and consists of 25 multiple choice questions for each of the four units. To pass, a score of 17 must be achieved in each unit. A score of 20 in each unit earns a merit, and 22 a distinction.

CeMAP 3 content: Assessment of mortgage advice knowledge

The aim of CeMAP 3 is to enable you to:

  • Demonstrate the ability to analyse a customer’s circumstances and existing arrangements, and find the best mortgage solution
  • Show how you can find and understand a customer’s needs and demands, and recommend a solution whilst displaying your knowledge of the UK finance industry and mortgage advice ethics. You must also demonstrate your knowledge of the different types of mortgage available, and the criteria for assessing their suitability.

The two hour, computer based exam and consists of 60 multiple choice based on 6 case studies. To pass, you must answer 42 questions correctly; 48 earns a merit, and 54 a distinction.

Please note that the fee for the Institute of Financial Services (ifs) School of Finance registration and exam for CeMAP 2 is £135, and for CeMAP 3 is £135. This is not included in the training course fees.
